Looking for SMA fiber optic colimator/focuser for laser.22 Dec 2004 12:34 GMT4
Can anyone point me in the right direction to buy one of these?
Laser has 3 diode laser arrays rated at 35W each, pigtailed into a
single SMA connector.  The fiber bundle is about 2 mm with a 3.15mm
jacket.
Getting to view a house dust mite?22 Dec 2004 00:18 GMT32
I'm just interested in microscopy as a bit of a past time and am fascinated
by the house dust mite.  Please, what is an easy way to secure and prepare
to view these minute pests?
So far I have been using sellotape but it's a bit ackward to say the least!
refilling HeNe tubes20 Dec 2004 20:33 GMT1
I recently acquired a tank of HeNe gas as well as some tanks of Argon gas.
Can anyone tell me how to fill these tubes and where I might find a list of
the required pressure for various tubes?
Thanks, and Happy Holiday Season to all
DPSS temporal noise20 Dec 2004 17:35 GMT9
I have put my new Viasho laser on a photodiode and discovered that it is
very noisy.  No wonder that was not a specification.
Despite that, the thing does perform modulation at acceptably fast
speeds, with about a 10us turn-on delay and 8us turn-off delay.
KTP question20 Dec 2004 17:33 GMT9
Would a KTP crystal like this be capable of generating several watts of
green?  I know these crystals are generally expensive but don't know if
there would be a difference between a crystal capable of producing 100mW vs.
one for 10W, or 30W.  I'm pretty sure all crystals are NOT ...

Customs question re: Chinese laser import20 Dec 2004 05:08 GMT8
If I buy a laser from Beijing Viasho directly, what happens or what must
I do regarding customs/duty fees?  Is it included in the purchase price
or do I have to pay after it arrives?
Thanks.
GS M-Series Galvo information20 Dec 2004 00:00 GMT1
Stepping motor feel in galvo will usually indicate worn ball bearings.
Unless You're expecting top-quality response, it should work OK for
simple applications. Typical feel for this galvo is free movement. No
spring action. Same as optically-feedbacked Cambridges. Not sure about
Synrad CO2 Laser Question19 Dec 2004 23:46 GMT3
I have a Synrad ~25W water cooled CO2 Laser, model D48-2-1155W.
Although the D48 series is still supported on Synrad's website, my
laser appears to be non-standard.  The only interface it has is via a
small headphone-like jack on the end.
Overpressure on Spectra 17119 Dec 2004 16:17 GMT2
I've an Spectra 171 argon with overpressure. I've accidentily used the
gas fill buton and now fun is over :-(. Could I try the cryo method
(I'm not sure that the glas reservoir will survive that procedure), or
is a refill the only option. It's a nearly new Tube, so I really don't

1" lens for 1/2" ccd18 Dec 2004 23:34 GMT5
I'm not a specialist in optical so I need someone to help me. I have video
camera with a 1/2" ccd size. I want to use it to take picture of a small
surface. I need to use a ring between the lens and the camera to zoom
correctly. I need a minimum 30 mm objectif. I found one ,a 50mm, ...
Is 300mW DPSS output okay from a 1W pump?17 Dec 2004 19:03 GMT2
I have a handheld, battery powered DPSS laser that runs on two "C"
batteries.  This is the GLP-III model made by Changchun New Industries.
I've seen the guts of this laser, and I know that the pump is a 1W
C-mount diode.  This laser has a power output of 145mW from two C
Questions about the doublet in the lens17 Dec 2004 10:42 GMT4
I have some questions about the lens contain of doublet:
1.Is the doublet used in the lens always for the purpose of achromatic
design?
2.I had read from the books about the doublet which say "we use crown
Nikon Inverted Microscope17 Dec 2004 02:12 GMT2
I recently acquired an inverted Nikon microscope.
It is an older one similar to this one....
