laser spot size29 Jan 2005 02:11 GMT3
Because laser power /cm2 is very important to me, i want to use focuing
lens to get small laser spot in experiment. The laser output beam
diameter is 6mm, and divergence=0.6mrads, the distance between the
laser exit port and the focusing lense(f.l.=750mm) is 500mm.

I don't know if it's been posted before, but it make slightly easier
reading than the bollocks that CNN et al are reporting...

Other than this site, the Googles site and Micscape...are there any
other discussion groups that focus on microscopes?
Thanks

photography through van Leeuwenhoek microscope28 Jan 2005 18:40 GMT3
Hi all,
next week I will get the opportunity to experiment with a copy of a
van Leeuwenhoek single lense microscope. ( magnification about 150
times; radius of lens about 1.5 mm). I want to try to make photographs
Losses connecting 200 mu MM fiber with SMA/905 connectors28 Jan 2005 16:20 GMT3
When connecting MM glass fibers, 200/240 mu core/cladding, 0.22 NA, with
SMA/905 connectors, I experience losses in the order of 20% to 30%.
I use a SMA mating sleeve.
Do I have bad patch cords with to high tolerances? Bad mating sleeves?

Yep. Here are the specs:

Thermal Imaging Resolution28 Jan 2005 14:31 GMT3
I'm investigating a means of measuring the minimum resolvable
temperature difference for a specific thermal imaging system.  It has
to be a go-no go system and be lightweight. Above all it has to be
objective, ie the decision taken away from the user.  I've toyed with
Non-visible-light/IR focusing lenses-Si, Ge, ZiSe?28 Jan 2005 10:31 GMT12
Hello optics fans --
I picked up a large, surplus optical assembly a while back and am
finally getting serious about learning more about it.  I'd especially
like help figuring out what the exotic lenses may be composed of.
Galvo scanning mirrors28 Jan 2005 03:53 GMT1
I've a though question (at least for me).
I'm working on a scanning microscope. I use two galvo controlled
mirrors to stear the laser beam. This beam needs to be expanded to fill
the back aperture of an objective. So I pass through a telescope (it
Is this any good for visible light laser art project?28 Jan 2005 03:24 GMT2
Doing an art project that involves manipulating a laser light source. I
was thinking of getting a little laser, but this thing has come up for
auction.
Looks like slight overkill, but there you go. Here's how the auction
SDL-7430 680nm laser diode28 Jan 2005 00:17 GMT13
I'm going through some of the laser diodes I got recently.  One box is
labeled SDL7430.  They're C mount with 6 leads going to the die, so I
know they are high current.  The only reference I can find to this part
number says they are 500mW 680-690nm.  I tested one up to 3W (at ...
(6) 50mw henes for sale27 Jan 2005 15:31 GMT2
i have 6 siemens lgk-7626 they are all matching, and 5 powersupplies,
these are low hours, and in great condition they all lase instantly and
are great in power they range from (31mw-39mw) as by my buddies
lasercheck. They are 42" in length, simply too large for my laser show,
Can a laser diode from an old CD writer be used as an IR illumination source?27 Jan 2005 03:10 GMT8
I have a small door camera with some weak IR LEDs für scene illumination.
As laser diodes seem to be much wore efficeint than LEDs, I would like to
use the laser of a dead CDR-drive. I think of removing the collimating
lens(es) so the beam should be divergent enough to ...
Mounting KTP crystal..27 Jan 2005 02:13 GMT7
Hi Group..
For my new dpss project, i need to mount a 3x3x5 mm KTP crystal in an
adjustable mount..
I have this mount, that has all the adjustments i need for the KTP:
Who buys small argon laser systems?26 Jan 2005 20:23 GMT7
I'm thinking about selling my stock of small argon laser heads and power
supplies to make room for other stuff that I want to work on.  I've got
at least 50 heads and power supplies and would prefer to sell most or
all of the in one shot.  Does anyone know if there is a company ...
