| laser diode current | 15 Jan 2005 21:52 GMT | 12 |
What is the best way to measure the current through a 1.2W pump diode? The reason I'm asking is because I need to replace a pump diode and adjust the power supply. cheers, Matthijs

| CO2 laser for cutting nylon cloth | 15 Jan 2005 21:33 GMT | 3 |
I have been only reading this news group for a few days, hope-ing to find some info on availability and price (reasonable if possible) of a CO2 laser that I could cut/burn Nylon Sail cloth, with a hand held tool, that I could move around the inside,or out side of a template

| Cost of Pockell's cell crystal? | 15 Jan 2005 21:08 GMT | 6 |
Does anyone know what it costs for a Pockell's cell crystal? I have a ruby laser (Holobeam 300) with the q-switch but the faces of the crystal are in pretty bad shape. Is it possible to refinish them or will it need to be replaced?

| cos^4 law | 15 Jan 2005 18:20 GMT | 21 |
Hello to everyone, I am confronted with someone stating that the cos^4 law is "a meaningless rule of thumb" and lens design (for photographic lenses) can be done such that at the boundary of the image circle one can have more

| Neutral density filter for 1064nm | 15 Jan 2005 16:38 GMT | 2 |
I checked my diode sensor from Control Laser unit and when hit by red laser pointer (ca.2mW) it is giving 950uA (bare diode monunted in BNC barrel+glss). I see there is another glass plate prior to diode chip (bare chip 6x6mm ! mounted on top of BNC connector!) but this glass is

| Yag power wire | 15 Jan 2005 16:19 GMT | 1 |
Better don't try to use RG-8 RF coax for power wire :-) I use common 5x2.5mm square power cable, where each conductor has it's own insulation, then all 5 go into another, common one. I used 2 wires for each pole of the lamp. I use series ignition transformer and I

| Yag power wire | 15 Jan 2005 05:00 GMT | 2 |
does anyone know what type of wire to use between a yag power supply and the head (lamp) that would be good and safe for a 100 watt laser. also a supplier of that wire. I believe I need for 50 amps but the ignition pulse voltage is my concern.

This link is being offered over in the rec.aviation.piloting. It shows a laser scanning across the cockpit of a jet.

| Neutral density filter for 1064nm | 14 Jan 2005 23:02 GMT | 1 |
Bob, Your rectangular IR sensor behind HR mirror (with BNC on the back side) should be factory equipped with longpass IR filter to cutoff all the light below lasing 1064nm, otherwise it will be measuring also

| ND2 filter | 14 Jan 2005 22:17 GMT | 3 |
Speaking of reducing the sensitivity of a laser power meter (from another thread), anyone have a piece of an ND2 filter made of a material that has a negligible photochromic effect? I have one that came from a Scientech high energy sensor but its transmission appears to *increase* ...

| Testamonial about my new laser pointer | 14 Jan 2005 18:40 GMT | 7 |
Actually, my friend bought a laser pointer from these guys (http://www.greenlazer.com/) and I figured I'd make his opinion known. After having the laser less than three weeks it up and died. I was not surprised because the quality of construction was pretty sketchy but he was

| big red diode laser for scanning? | 14 Jan 2005 18:10 GMT | 5 |
I just got an SDL 7460-P6 which is a 3W 632nm bar coupled into a 600u fiber. Wow - lots of red in a small, solid state package! I'd really like to use this in a laser projector, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to get a very usable beam out of it. According to the ...
