| AR coating questions. | 14 Jan 2005 11:51 GMT | 2 |
Is an anti-reflective coating for 1064 nM absolutely totally useless at 808nM? Also, do YAG rods that are side pumped with diodes generally have AR coatings evaporated on the sides (808nM) as well as the ends (1064)? In

| Experience with Lambdapro laser - and some questions for the experts | 14 Jan 2005 11:02 GMT | 2 |
In December I bought a 140mW dpss from Lambdapro. Communications with these people was good and they did not put down other laser companies, which created trust. Overall it was a very pleasant transaction. The laser is a UG-120 mW model that is rated at over 140 mW with the

| Damaged yag rod coating | 14 Jan 2005 00:22 GMT | 1 |
The AR coating on my yag rod is damaged and I am curious how much this would affect the performance. The laser is supposed to put out 30 watts max (multimode) and the rod is 3mm X 50mm with an arc lamp pump. The OC is 10% transmission. The rod still has good polished faces but ...

| Issues with "terrorist lasers" | 13 Jan 2005 17:57 GMT | 17 |
I command a Civil Air Patrol squadron in Cincinnati, and one of my cadets asked about the lasers being used to shine into aircraft cockpits, and "blinding" the pilots. Since we are aviation-oriented (USAF Auxiliary), this is of interest to us. I'm considering teaching

| Beam Propagation software for Linux (KDE) | 13 Jan 2005 17:40 GMT | 2 |
I am currently working on a program that simulates a beam propagating. You can allow the beam to interact with lenses and apertures. I am trying to write a front end for this currently command line program, and was wondering if anyone had heard of similar projects?

| FBI probes more lasers shot at airplanes!!!!!!! | 13 Jan 2005 01:51 GMT | 1 |
The lasers can temporarily blind pilots. A cluster of incidents received wide attention between Christmas and New Year's Day, and the FBI says at least four more have occurred in the past week. Authorities have continued to rule out terrorism.

| Scheimflug condition again | 12 Jan 2005 19:55 GMT | 7 |
If you already know that object planes get imaged into image planes, the condition can made to appear "obvious." Every object point on the intersection between the object plane and the lens plane coincides with its image point. Light emanates from such a point with
