| Long Range IR Breakbeam 650ft or More. | 01 Nov 2005 00:27 GMT | 33 |
I'm trying to construct a long range (650ft/200m minimum) infrared break beam. I'm not sure of the best way to accomplish this, but one of my ideas is to take a long range green laser pointer, like this one for example (http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/5a47/), and remove

| Mamba Black In USA | 31 Oct 2005 16:09 GMT | 10 |
Anybody in the US using Mamba Black?, I'd like a review in English, not German. I have a regular Mamba setup here and one I bought for a friend for a club install. We're using the MAX 506 parallel port DAC (only 8 bits) and are happy with it, but I'd like to know how well the VST

I am new to Fibre optics and don't know where to look. I am looking for plastic fibres that are tough and flexible. Idealy they would be as tough and flexible as fishing line. The light transmission properties are secondary as I am designing a

Can someone here share his experiences or opinions about the OptisWorks program? http://www.optis-world.com/G_O.asp?soft_id=3 It is an extension to Solidworks and advertised to be a full featured optics design program. Its advantage is the full integration of optical elements in

| Interference - Net Curtain/Diffraction | 29 Oct 2005 19:38 GMT | 2 |
Diffraction, seen when light passes through a diffraction grating, and the pattern produced by overlaying two net curtains (for example) are both referred to as 'interference' patterns. But it seems clear to me that these two are unrelated effects, despite the

| Good tungsten carbide microtome blades. | 28 Oct 2005 17:57 GMT | 2 |
I plan to cut a softer Epon block of retina with a histological microtome (Leica). Because Epon is hard I plan on using a tungsten carbide disposable blade. These blades are not cheap, so I wonder what people think of Leica

| Subpixel resolution | 27 Oct 2005 18:11 GMT | 8 |
I wonder what kind of algorithms are used in comuter document scanners (e.g., flat bed ) for high resolution scanning. There must be some kind of subpixel processing involved. Also, in addition to sub-pixel they must go beyond optical resolution of the lens. I wonder how.

| Instrument for spectral measurements? | 27 Oct 2005 13:37 GMT | 1 |
We need to make measurements of the spectral reflectance and transmission of a 4" x 8" window in the visible. The accuracy should be within a percent or so, and the spectral resolution sufficient to characterize laser line filters. This is a development effort, and
