Nd:YAG Absorption question...28 Apr 2006 18:48 GMT11
Does YAG/ vanadate only absorb the pump light  when it's in its cavity
and lasing? ie does it effectively go from being transparent to opaque
(at say 807nM) over a few mm depth - dependant on doping level?
I think I may have answered my question already today while trying to
Plan-Neofluar 63x/1.2 W (TL=160mm)28 Apr 2006 12:54 GMT1
Hi again,
I have a question with anyone who's had a chance to work with closely with
both the older 160mm Zeiss objectives and the newer ICS optics,
particularily with water immersion lenses.
Analog Failure when using Melles Griot 06 LD 10527 Apr 2006 22:55 GMT1
Anyone has a clue or experience why this is happening on this model? We
are using one in our lab for experiments in laser microscopy.
Appreciate any help?
Cylinder vendors27 Apr 2006 21:00 GMT9
I'm looking for a reliable vendor for custom cylinder lenses.  These
are plano cylinder in form, about 12mm x 12mm cross section.
Please don't reply unless you have had experience procuring custom
lenses.
Emulsion to apply on surface to get black engraving27 Apr 2006 17:39 GMT4
Hi to all,
I am new to the world of lasers and I haven't found answers to my
question on the net yet.  Hope you can bring me further.
I have a surface made of extremely clear polymer (e.g. Envirotex lite -

Someone on one of these lists recommended it.
It does not say how many megapixels.   Home Science Tools, where I bought
Microscope eyepieces have come a long way...27 Apr 2006 01:29 GMT6
Now, you can buy outstanding eyepieces from Nikon, Zeiss, Olympus, etc.
But it wasn't always that way.
I wonder why it took companies making microscopes so long to come out
with decent eyepieces?
Laser projector26 Apr 2006 17:11 GMT5
I'm am currently building a text projector which utilizes a single
laser module, along with a motor driven mirror disc to project letters
onto a surface. The concept works great, but the laser module is a
bottleneck, that is, I can't modulate it fast enough so the text
660nm26 Apr 2006 15:39 GMT6
Hello, just curious, what amount of 660nm would I need to make for a nice
balanced yellow, when combined with a dichro with 35mW of 532nm?
Thanks!

The price should be reasonnable.
A basic question26 Apr 2006 10:29 GMT2
Why does the wave gets bent when it travells from one RI to another,I
know it's basically beacuse of change of speed. How does one can
visualise the travelling of a wave in a medium?
Thermally pumped LASER or MASER?26 Apr 2006 02:27 GMT21
I don't hang out on alt.lasers, so this question may have been
asked and answered or ridiculous, but my google got nothing relevant.
Does anyone know if there exists a LASER or MASER that uses
thermally excited atoms to lase? If so, where can I find more info?
laser get larger over distance: what is this called?26 Apr 2006 02:13 GMT3
Can anyone tell me that is the property that describes why a laser get
larger (wider) over distance: what is this called?
For example when I use a laser pointer, what is the property of the
laser that describes why the laser on the wall at 20 feet away is
Laser engraved images25 Apr 2006 15:13 GMT14
I am trying to understand what is needed to photo engrave on polished black
granite with a laser.  From what I have read you could use a 20 watt CO2
laser on a CNC table that allows the laser to navigate over the granite
surface.  The laser must engrave a halftone pattern, a ...
