| Quick fix to the sagging cathode problem. | 30 Jun 2006 16:54 GMT | 5 |
Yesterday I got the crazy idea that it might be possible to fix the sagging cathode problem by applying very high current to the cathode and let it heat up just enough so the material would soften up, and hopefully it would bend a bit. (of cause with the tube mounted in 180

| Laser wavelength related to power? | 28 Jun 2006 08:03 GMT | 9 |
I was wondering why you really never see any truly high-powered visible light lasers.....is there some reason as to why it's quite common for IR lasers to acheive powers well into the kilowatts but not visible light ones?

| Advantages of photonics -- other than bandwidth -- over electronics | 28 Jun 2006 06:06 GMT | 35 |
One advantage of photonics over electronics is more bandwidth but that is only one of several advantages. Others are greater clarity, less overheating, more resistance to EMI/ RFI, greater S/N ratio. So its not just bandwidth.
