photodiode amplifier with notch/highpass filter?30 Sep 2007 21:38 GMT6
I'm trying to do an experiment which involves detecting a small
(~10^-6) modulation of a laser beam, at a frequency of about 60KHz.
The beam is about 1mW, and is itself chopped at about 35KHz.
I am currently using an unamplified photodiode and a lockin amplifier
Altering Laser Polarization with Wave Plates?29 Sep 2007 17:07 GMT3
Suppose I have a polarized laser, where I don't know in advance what
that polarization is. Might be linear in any orientation or might be
elliptical in any orientation or might be circular.
Further, this laser is reflected by several mirrors, incident at 45
slit beam laser28 Sep 2007 14:17 GMT5
I am looking for a laser that lays down a line (slit beam?).
It has to project about 30-40 feet and be 12 volt (as in automotive
use). It needs to be visible in daylight. Where do I find a supplier?
If the project goes well I will need a wholesale supplier. Any help
Personal Dilema28 Sep 2007 13:38 GMT8
I've just happened upon the opportunity to put my massive dept that I
owe to my landlord (11 grand) and my rent on hold for a month whilst I
blow (I say blow but I really mean frantically willingly hand over )

rectifiers in Cyonics PSU?28 Sep 2007 12:02 GMT5
Hi everybody! I'm new here.My name is Julian and I'm from Germany. A
few weeks ago I bought me an Argon Ion Laser Power Supply (Cyonics
Model 2101-65MLA). Now I want to repair it for a project on my
university, but there is a little problem. Everything is ok, but on

Quantum measurement paradox, with observation redistributing the wave function in a distantly detectable way.27 Sep 2007 21:55 GMT2
This is an intriguing quantum measurement paradox, and I don't
know how to resolve it: In a Mach-Zehnder interferometer, insert a gray
filter G into leg L2.  Given a traditional stream of light, that alters the
amplitudes delivered to the beam-splitter/recombiner R.  With a 25%

First microscope27 Sep 2007 00:23 GMT5
I'm looking for my first microscope, which will be a stereo
microscope. I''ve searched among major brands (Nikon, Olympus, Leica,
Zeiss...) and the only one that fit my budget (around 1000$) is the
Leica EZ4. Having looked at brochures, this microscope seems to be a

Is there a knowledgable expert out there that can help a new beginner
in replacing the missing objectives on a Reichert Microstar IV. I have
been having loads of trouble sourcing the objectives that I want and
was hoping that there is an equivilant to the Reichert made by either
Question on a cheap digital micro for non-professional use26 Sep 2007 13:05 GMT1
Okay, I have a low budget, but I'm looking for a way to get reasonable looking
photos of individual chondrules in meteorites into my PC.  I'm looking at a
model of USB hand-held microscope.  I know that I won't get anything approaching
professional level results from this-- but I'm ...

Do I get any points for stupidity?
