As a part of a project I need to design a 3v (or 4V) 50A power
supply. This power supply will be part of a diode laser. Can Anybody

Articulating Arm to Hold Fiberscope?31 Oct 2007 18:52 GMT9
Does anyone make an articulating arm that we could use to orient a fiber
scope into a fiber adapter, leaving the human operator's hands free to work
with software that analyzes the image?
The product we are using is the Westover USB fiberscope, and it works with

Lense Productition Techniques...?30 Oct 2007 14:14 GMT5
Any information on modern lense production techniques would be appreciated.
The most comprehensive information I have found so far is the books "Amature
Telescope Making", but the information is quite old. I expect there have
been major advances in the tehniques since the 50's.  ...
Spec of Tesco own-brand binoculars?29 Oct 2007 19:57 GMT3
Here in the UK Tesco sell some super-cheap own-brand binoculars for
about £10.  I know they're fairly crap but that's ok.
I think they have a magnification of 12x.
Does anyone know the other figure which I believe is the objective lens

Prisms - Instant rainbows28 Oct 2007 13:48 GMT1
Been after one of these for ages and last night a batch of
18 have appeared on ebay! These are huge optical grade
prisms at 6 inces tall and are old ones from 1920's. I'd
grab one fast if you want it. I paid $42 for mine which is
What is a metallurgical objective?27 Oct 2007 20:45 GMT7
Yes, I know, it's for metallurgy! But how do the optical properties of
these objectives differ from normal brightfield ones? How might they
be expected to perform for biological applications, for example?

Zemax/Oslo optical index with temperature26 Oct 2007 11:32 GMT1
I'm working on a very simple optical design containing one lens (1 glass
(such as N-BK10 for exemple)) at different temperatures.
I'm just trying to calculate the optical index values of the glass using
Sellmeier equation and its derivative according to the temperature.
Usual suspects for laser marking26 Oct 2007 08:31 GMT1
how would be the usual supects to aks for a laser marking setup?
The target would be silicon wafers (match box size) and just a bar code on
them. Required throughput is less than 1000 per day, so that shouldn't be
a problem.
