Determine polarity for 808nm laser diode 9mm package31 Jul 2009 10:31 GMT14
I've bought a 808nm laser diode in 9mm package. It's said to emit 1W
at 1500mA. But strange is that there are only two pins behind it.
Do anyone know how to determine which pin will connect to positive (+)
without damaging it. It's rather expensive. I saw that one pin connect
zeiss primo star30 Jul 2009 16:10 GMT2
I know the recommendation is always to buy a used big 4, but does anyone
have any experience with the primo star? All I can find on the web is zeiss
promo material and that it's manufactured by motic.
Problem with flourescent visualization29 Jul 2009 23:29 GMT4

I've encountered a rather frustrating problem.  Perhaps you may have
some suggestions?
Here is the problem as described by the lab manager: note, I've deleted
Any field microscopes that aren't plastic pieces of crap today?28 Jul 2009 08:39 GMT11
Not only does plastic make them look like flimsy junk (I can just
imagine  the optical quality) but it makes the product FAR TOO LARGE
thanks to plastic's lack of strength and the need for thick moldings.

LASORB -- the ESD absorber for Laser Diodes27 Jul 2009 07:33 GMT53
If you haven't already heard of LASORB, I wanted to invite you all to
take a look at the LASORB web site, which can be found at www.lasorb.com
LASORB is a small electronic component that is connected directly
across the laser diode. Once in place, LASORB is able to protect the
Highest Quantum Efficiencies?27 Jul 2009 07:09 GMT14
Is there anyone who knows what are the highest quantum efficiencies
reached by current photon detectors? Is there a academic references/
listings in this regard?
Thanks,

Unitary evolution disobeyed by null measurement?22 Jul 2009 02:53 GMT6
I argue we can disrupt unitary evolution in certain cases, even before a
true measurement occurs.  The proposed example is where one orthogonal
state of a co-evolving pair (like, |x> and |y> polarized light together
in a system) is altered by "null measurement", i.e. a possible
Looking for a Leitz Ergolux manual22 Jul 2009 01:56 GMT1
For the older Leitz types there is plenty of documentation to be found on
the web, but for my newer Ergolux I can't find a thing.
Does anyone know if/where such a manual can be found?

Fault in new microscopes21 Jul 2009 14:05 GMT11
Hi,I have recently received two microscopes both with the same fault -
a semicircle of muck or stain on the bottom left of the field of view.
This remains whatever combination of lenses I am using and will alter
in density when I alter illumination.
