derivatives of a Gaussian.  Gaussian functions of course have many

At the Cosmic Variance Blog someone posted a comment in the form of a
question: "Is spacetime a 4-D manifold?"
It reminded me of Einstein's comment that the idea of spacetime
independent of matter/objects was dubious, at best.
