Neophyte question.31 Mar 2007 11:37 GMT27
I have been nagged for years by the following:
Let's say that the earth started spinning really fast on it's axis. So fast
that we all flew off because of centripetal force.
What would it have to be spinning relative to in order for this to happen?

Imagine two masses, at the origin and (0,1,0). They attract at certain
gravity, and have certain acceleration. Now an observer moving along
the x-axis will see a slower acceleration, since the y-distance is
invariant and time dilates. But, he measures greater masses! How can
How speed of light and newtonian gravity leads to GR?29 Mar 2007 18:59 GMT10
I have heard that since special relativity and causuality limits the
speed by the speed of light and since nothing limits the effects of
gravity, einstein was looking for a new theory of gravity which was
limited by the speed of light. and this conflict lead him to general

A Speed Limit for Massive Particles?27 Mar 2007 21:51 GMT65
Particles with mass can not be accelerated to the speed of light.  This much
we accept.
Let's take the case of a moon sized object and an observer in a rocket who
is stationary with respect to that object.  Having nothing better to do, the

How to defeat the roundtrip paradox.26 Mar 2007 21:24 GMT70
Yes you got that right roundtrips is what maks SR go round. To defeat
the con of Einstein you will have to let the light travel symetric
without having a roundtrip, just symmetrical distances.
+ or - distances doesn't matter, Einsteins theory of relativity and
two slit questions for experiment experts26 Mar 2007 12:36 GMT25
these questions rose while reading "the theory of almost everything"
of R. Oerter:
1) light send to the two slits is monocromatic? is it coerent ? what
if it is sun light?
Destroying Hell26 Mar 2007 11:32 GMT1
I think we are going to destroy hell by making a monople thats all I can
figure out right now. I got to go to a catholic diosces tommorow but
this is going to take time.A monople is better than a miracle because a
miracle will just look clever to you.
Putting out Hell26 Mar 2007 11:23 GMT1
Somebody told me I can put out hell with a wave of the hand. I think
they meant a guitar and not a miracle. I seen plenty of miracles
although not stupid but if we put out hell with a miracle all your going
to do is Roll your eyes around and say "Clever".
Simultaneous moments within SR26 Mar 2007 08:51 GMT22
How come that during a simultaneous moment, when two beam of light
"fired from the center within the ship", hit the front wall and the
backwall in the ship, they can be spatially separated by a greater
length/distance within the rest space the ship travel.
