Monoecious, Dioecious and ?28 Jan 2005 00:31 GMT3
Is there a single word complementing the words monoecious and dioecious,
referring to a flowering plant that has male and female organs in the
same flower (same plant).  I feel a third word would complete the
picture somewhat from a teaching perspective.  With thanks Bernard

Do you know how simple it is to go to Heaven after this life has ended?
Some people believe that belonging to a local church, temple, mosque or

So AOL is going to discontinue newsgroups. No telling when my husband will get
the DSL running. I will miss you guys (outside of the name-calling). Would one
of you be willing to monitor a digest, perhaps through Yahoo? I have three

Blue Star Creeper26 Jan 2005 07:48 GMT9
My understanding is that Pratia angulata and Laurentia or Isotoma fluviatilis
are synonymous. They look identical to me, but I am strictly an amateur. One of
the nurseries is questioning this. Is there any reference on the subject?

“Take a little sunshine. Take some carbon dioxide molecules out of the
air. Take some hydrogen atoms out of water. Shuffle them around inside a
bunch of little green chloroplasts inside green plant cells. What do you
get?

Opinions - Texas Sabal Palm?25 Jan 2005 10:32 GMT2
What do people think of the Texas Sabal Palm? I know it's not the best
looking of the palm trees, but supposedly it does well in cold
environments down to 10 degrees.

Botany won't survive the next 10 years24 Jan 2005 23:56 GMT3
I'm a time traveller from the future and I must tell you that botany
won't survive the year 2009. All current knowledge will proven false,
outlawed, and banned worldwide and members of the underground who
secretly study botany will be arrested and shot.
PDF files of Plant Teaching Articles24 Jan 2005 18:59 GMT1
I scanned about a dozen of my plant education articles and converted
them to PDF files. Among the topics are irrigation water quality, light
measurement for plant growth, hydroponics, parasitic plants, history of
botany teaching, semi-quantitative analysis of ions in nutrient
