L-theanine and caffeine volatility30 Nov 2004 23:53 GMT1
Hi, Everyone!
What is the boiling temperature of L-theanine? Also, what is the
boiling temperature of caffeine?
Thank You

Why do ionic substances get decomposed in solution and molecular ones
don't?
As far s I know ionic substances are much stronger...
And how does it happen that a cation gives all his electrons in the
Smoke Detectors and Radon30 Nov 2004 07:26 GMT7
Could Amercium from smoke detectors decay to form Radon that could cause
basement radon detectors to trigger? Because now I notice we put our test kit
too close to the smoke detector, even though it registered a low-enough level.
glowing letters special effect?30 Nov 2004 02:25 GMT3
Few years ago a friend of mine had a metallic ink pen, and if you
burnt paper with writing on it, the letters would birghtly glow
briefly before burning out.
I bought out the metallic pen section at staples and none of them do
Help with reaction orders and rates please!30 Nov 2004 01:21 GMT3
I'm in first year college and I'm having some trouble with my
chemistry lab. I reacted varying amounts of HCL, acetone and iodine
with water in 4 different systems (20 ml of one, 10 ml of all the
others) and recorded the reaction times. I then calculated the

If you going down the halogens (and hydrogen) you'll see the oxides are written
H2O, OF2, Cl2O, Br2O, I2O, but why is it in the case of Fluorine you write
oxygen first?

dissociation or protonation constants?29 Nov 2004 14:43 GMT5
Which constants are most commonly used in contemporary text books and
catalogues to describe strength of acids and bases? I have looked
through the books I have at home - total chaos. Every book and sometimes
even every table is different - stepwise/overall,
crosslinking29 Nov 2004 10:36 GMT4
I guess it's not my lucky day. After spending some time and chemicals
on the binding of complex biomolecules, there is the need for some
gold-tethered imidazole molecules. Walk in the park, I think. No, it
isn't. A reaction I thought trivial also takes time and energy to
2 quetions about heat.29 Nov 2004 05:18 GMT15
Heat is desrcibed as the vibration of molecules right? How then does
heat travel through a vacuum? My other question was if copper is a
better conductor of heat than aluminum, why does aluminum distinctively
feel colder to the touch?
Aqueous solution question28 Nov 2004 23:49 GMT10
If a solution is quoted as a 4% aqueous solution what does this
mean??
Does this refer to weight percentage??
I was told that this means 4mg of the solid added to 100ml of water
electrolysis28 Nov 2004 16:55 GMT2
I want to know the outcome of this experiment:
Suppose I put a solid cylindrical electrode (anode/cathode) inside a
hollow cylindrical electrode (cathode/ anode) so that there is only a
minimal potential space between the two electrodes, and
pH discrepancy; paper vs meter28 Nov 2004 15:08 GMT2
Your opinions please.  Last week I was testing the pH of a solution
for injection into mice.  It contains 10% Cremophor-EL in PBS.  The
PBS alone yielded a pH of 7+ on paper (range 2 -11) and 7.50 on a
Beckman 350 with a standard probe.
oxygen "getter"28 Nov 2004 02:10 GMT5
Is there a simple way to pull traces of oxygen from nitrogen?
The Chemistry of Automobiles27 Nov 2004 20:58 GMT3
All right...
I've googled...
I've searched...
And I still can't find a good resource on the various uses of elements
