How to Detect Urine In Toilet 28 Feb 2006 00:30 GMT8
I am currently toilet training my cat and need to know when and if she
urinated into the toilet.
Is there any chemical agent I could add to the water that would make
the water turn an obvious color when urine hit it. The chemical would
How clean hardened corrosion...battery, rust, etc.27 Feb 2006 17:20 GMT6
I'm (still) cleaning up a very old (75 years) all-metal chrome plated
flashlite  and working on the barrel that holds the 5 "D" cells.  It's
chrome plated on the outside, but the inside is beginning to look like
brass (not steel).  Here's the deal, and a dilemma if someone might

Over on the yahoo distillers group
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Distillers/) it is common practice to
add sodium bicarbonate to the wash before performing a spirit run so as
to reduce the amount of ethyl acetate that gets distilled over.  We're
Dynamic Simulation27 Feb 2006 14:12 GMT2
I am master degree student in process control. I wish to use dynamic
simulation for control study of distillation.
I am able to converge Steady State model of distillaion in Hysis 3.1.3.
But now when I am switching to dynamic simulation it is asking for
heat of combustion23 Feb 2006 14:48 GMT2
-hi,I'm looking for heats for combustion for styrene, polystyrene, ethyl
benzene,mineral oil,polybutadiene...need it for safety reasons,fire
evaluation...if anyone could help me with information where I can find this
data I would be very greatful,I googeled, but no luck
d-orbitals in semiemperical methods. Gaussian0322 Feb 2006 13:01 GMT2
Is there any semiemperical methods that can include d-orbitals in the
Gaussian03 package?

Need a better mineral scale/corrosion cleaner20 Feb 2006 22:40 GMT6
I have to clean gold plated laser reflectors which are coated with
mineral scale.  I believe the scale is composed of copper and aluminum
hydroxides and carbonates.  This is based on the fact that the metals in
the reflector assemblies where the corrosion occurs are aluminum and

Arsenic and cattle19 Feb 2006 23:29 GMT7
I had made an unsupported statement about a year and a half ago
that cattle required a small amount of arsenic in their diets to
survive.  I was asked for any sort of literature support and
found very little at the time.
ultrapure water from distilled water19 Feb 2006 14:30 GMT6
i'd like to reduce chloride concentration in my distilled water from 5-30
ppb to less than 1ppb. in this way i could use this water in ionic
chromatography, saving much money. do you know any device that can do this?
i'd like to try with some anionic exchange resin but i don't know ...
Titration curve showing up in the strangest places.17 Feb 2006 22:51 GMT2
I am doing a polymer crosslinking study, and am looking for different
ways to model the data.  After running a catayst comparison matrix,  I
noticed that the results look identical to a titration curve for a
mono-protic acid.  This got me to thinking about what value the point

URGENT HELP: How to measure thermal conductivity of gas-solid mixture?15 Feb 2006 22:27 GMT11
I need your help and advice on how to measure thermal conductivity of a
gas (i.e. air, nitrogen) with micron sized particles in it flowing
through a pipe at a certain gas velocity or flow rate.  I am quite new
to this and have been looking into possible techniques and theory but I
What is a simple test for presence of hydrogen peroxide?15 Feb 2006 18:35 GMT3
I am planning to use a hydrogen peroxide solution to sterilize hydroponic
growing pots in my little greenhouse. Old algae and other growth will be
present. Pumping out the solution is a bit of a chore. I am hoping to just
let the H2O2 decompose until I have mostly water.
