Emulsifiers for solid candle wax31 Mar 2006 01:57 GMT15
I would like to collect hot dripping candle  wax (or melted wax) into hot

Injecting current into a cell31 Mar 2006 01:30 GMT3
I'm wondering if anyone knows the standard terminology when you inject
a current into a cell. By convention, it is stated that when positive
ions flow out of a cell, the current is defined as positive. If
positive ions are flowing into a cell, the current is negative.
Why *2*-propenoic acid?30 Mar 2006 23:09 GMT5
From what I read, acrylic acid, CH2=CH-COOH, is denoted 2-propenoic
acid. Why the "2"? As far as I can tell, "propenoic acid" ought to be
unambiguous. Is there a 1-propenoic acid or a 3-propenoic acid? Besides,
the second carbon has nothing remarkable attached to it.

COC plastic tubing29 Mar 2006 01:47 GMT2
Does anyone know if COC plastic can be drawn into the form of flexible,
transparent (low birefringent) tubing.  Ideally it would be thin walled
and relatively vapor impermeable.

How abrasive is calcium carbonate?25 Mar 2006 18:46 GMT6
How abrasive is calcium carbonate.  When I encounter it as chalk it
seems only very mildly abrasive although I might not even go as far
as to quite call it "abrasive"!
Calcium carbonate is sometimes use in some toothpastes but hydrated
