Phenolphthalein30 Apr 2006 23:03 GMT2
It's been many decades since I've had to apply any of the principles of
chemistry I once knew. I need to learn and understand again the basics
of using phenolphthalein to affect a simple but dramatically visible
(and preferably a reversible and repeatable event if possible) and have
PERCENT YIELD30 Apr 2006 19:06 GMT2
For a science lab, I am asked to find the following:
What factor(s) affect percent yield in a reaction which produces
calcium carbonate?
polyester finish30 Apr 2006 03:50 GMT5
I got a demand to finish a model with polyester.
To have a better idea about the finish here is link of a picture of a
chair with the required finish:

Thermal quantity29 Apr 2006 17:13 GMT1
I have to calculate the quantity of heat to be removed from a gas
mixture (2 components) necessary to decrease its temperature from say
100 to 80 °C.
Somebody can suggest me the necessary steps to do it?
Best textbook on Quantum Chemistry29 Apr 2006 16:50 GMT1
What's the best Quantum Chemistry textbook available with good
clarity. Do you still recommend those written ages ago by Linus
Pauling?
Thanks.

Global Warming vs. Global Cooling29 Apr 2006 04:38 GMT68
This was an interesting episode as far as Nova's go.

LG WADE OR SOLOMONS29 Apr 2006 02:40 GMT3
I'm about to start Organic chemistry on my own. Can someone please tell
which one would be a better book - LG Wade or Solomons. I'm convinced
that I'll be doing one of these.
theory: viscosity of mixtures?28 Apr 2006 21:52 GMT5
Say for instance I have two liquids: a vegetable oil with viscosity of
70 cp, and diesel fuel of viscosity 3 cp.
If I mix them 50:50 by mole fraction, somehow I get a feeling that the
viscosity will not be just the arithmetic average of the two (36.5 cp).
curing of oils28 Apr 2006 14:31 GMT1

Color of Concentrated Aqueous Phenol Solution28 Apr 2006 11:17 GMT5
I though i made a 80% and 40% aqueous phenol solution (newly opened
solid phenol with 18.2 Mohm water). The former is colorless while the
latter is whittish which partitions into two layers upon standing. Does
this sound right or did i screw up?
Altenatives to the usage of chlorine for water sterilization28 Apr 2006 02:45 GMT4
Goodmorning to everybody,
I've been trying to figure out an alternative to the usage of active
chlorine as sterilizing agent for seawater used in heat exchangers. In
practice, chlorine is added to seawater before it enters in the
Calculation of moles28 Apr 2006 00:23 GMT15
HI - I am, being a little accurate here, a below-average student in
science. And just bumped into this staggeringly difficult question on
the web (preparing for GCSE exams). So a question - if anyone out there
can help me solve this, I would greatly appreciate it.
