Lithium oxide solubility01 Nov 2006 00:00 GMT3
I was curious if anyone could recommend an organic solvent to
dissolve Lithium oxide (Li2O) and/or lithium peroxide.  I know water
and molten salts can dissolve it, but I need to find an organic
solvent.  Some of the common organic solvents such as THF, PC, EC etc.
Peptide aldehyde (CHO) purification31 Oct 2006 07:01 GMT2
I am interested in the following peptide
N-carbobenzoyl-Ile-Glu-(OtBu)-Ala-Leu-CHO. It isnt too
difficult to synthesize, however, the purification is the
difficult part. 90% can be done but when trying to go above
Is this a typo?30 Oct 2006 15:24 GMT5
My 10th grade chem book says that in 2H2+O2 ->2H2O, 1 mol of H2 goes to
1/2 mol of H2O, but my calculations say 1 mol of H2O. Is that a typo?
I'm using Abeka's Chemistry: Precision and Design. Thanks!!!!!

pH of HgCl2 aqueous solution28 Oct 2006 15:29 GMT6
Hi everyone. I am a molecular biologist and need to adjust the pH of a
mercuric solution in distilled water, wich is about 3 to pH 6-7 to
study the efect of this ions in a GPCR. I have tried with some buffers
but must salts of the mercuric ion precipitate as well as the oxide.
Oxygen  Leak against pressure28 Oct 2006 11:37 GMT6

poisons such as oxygen and water, the following questions comes up regularly
but I have never found a definitive answer or method of calculation.  say
you have a nitrogen line for arguments sake at a pressure of ...

Source of sulfur dioxide27 Oct 2006 16:09 GMT17
We are considering a process that uses SO2, around 1 to 5 tons per
day. Is there an easy way to make that on site by burning sulfur?
Should we buy it? Any idea who makes it and the cost?
Thx
Scale resistant coating27 Oct 2006 10:51 GMT3
I am chasing a polyurethane or epoxy based protective coating that will
resist scale adhesion and tolerate temperatures up to 100degC in a
synthetic alumina liquor (15% caustic soda with dissolved alumina).
It needs to be a coating that is easy to apply without any heat curing.
