Mercury analysis cold vapor method optimization30 Jul 2008 12:18 GMT2
I would like to optimize a Mercury Cold-Vapors analytical method which
isn't efficient to my opinion because we get broad and flat peaks.
Anyone would know what could cause theses very broad peaks whatever the
concentration I'm using for calibration (I usually use 0.1, 1, 5 and 10

Molten NaOH and Aluminum (and some Sulfur too) - What Happens?25 Jul 2008 22:19 GMT6
OK, I cannot seem to find online the reaction information with
Aluminum and molten Sodium Hydroxide. That is, melt NaOH (which melts
around 318C) and add small amounts of Aluminum to it - what is the

Leaching of noble metals in nitric acid25 Jul 2008 14:44 GMT1
Does anyone knows of a process where noble metals like Ru Rh or Pd are
leached into nitric acid, either in metallurgical process or recycling
methods? All the present methods employ either aqua regia or
hydrochloric acid.
reactions between sea water, diesel fuel or engine oil?25 Jul 2008 14:42 GMT13
This text I posted on the boatdesign.com forum under the title "any chemists
among you":
When I open the engine bay of my boat, I smell something acid.
The boat is not in use because I am working (again) on various electronic
Potassium carbonate and water25 Jul 2008 04:13 GMT3
I need to create relative humidity about 50% to calibrate a hygrometer.
You make a slush of the chemical with distilled water, put it in a sealed
container, and wait.
Potassium carbonate is one of the salts listed as good for this.  It makes
flour, like cement, is a dry powder and when add water, becomes like     a glue-- chemistry explanation?24 Jul 2008 05:08 GMT1
Today I solved one of my old problems. I mix pancake batter to last
for a week, but without using a plastic
throwaway container. Throwaway because the dried batter on the walls
of the container are so miserable

Bleach vs. colored bleach - deadly ingredient - what is it?23 Jul 2008 00:05 GMT12
Regular Clorox bleach can be used to kill microorganisms, but it will
put white stains on your colored clothing.
I want to attempt to sterilize my colored clothing as I wash it (I use

Clear Gel / Goo Resulted from Cleaning Coffee Maker!22 Jul 2008 21:11 GMT8
Poured vinegar into our Krups coffee maker to clean and a clear gel

was just turned off when the vinegar was poured in and it was of the
white distilled type (Heinz) and not diluted at all. Any idea what ...
Adhesive recommedation sought for bonding cast and extruded acrylic22 Jul 2008 19:34 GMT6
I'm in UK, so hoping I can buy in UK.
I see products such as Tensol 12; Tensol 70; Extru-Fix; Evo Bostik 7452 and
other quality adhesives to bond cast or extruded acrylic, but I seem to be
having a hard time finding anything that comes in a 50 or 100 ml bottle or
