KOH solution calculation problem31 Aug 2008 20:05 GMT9
My avocation is homebrewing Mead which is alcohol
made from honey.  Fermentation management requires
that the pH of the must be kept above 3.0 and below
4.8.

Fenton's reagent's reaction w/ polychloroethene?30 Aug 2008 07:14 GMT2
What is the product of this reaction: 1M FeSO4+1M H2O2+1M finely

K-values from equations of state?  Fugacity only, or activity     coefficients?29 Aug 2008 13:15 GMT6
I am trying to do spreadsheet flash calculations using SRK & PR
equations of state.  I can calculate z for vapour & liquid, and use
those to calculate fugacity coefficients.  If I take the ratio of the
fugacity coefficients for the vapour & liquid phases, then I get the K-
Aqua Regia dissolving Gold27 Aug 2008 22:35 GMT9
Here is what I have read about why Aqua regia dissolves gold:
Aqua regia dissolves gold, even though neither constituent acid will
do so alone, because, in combination, each acid performs a different
task. Nitric acid is a powerful oxidizer, which will actually dissolve

While browsing http://www.unitednuclear.com/isotopes.htm I wondered, why
not use something like C-14 with thousands of years half life instead of
tritium in betalights. 12y is probably enough for many applications, but
it just doesn't last a lifetime.
Empirical Beliefs & Hypothesis; Do they terminate in some beliefs     that need no further justification, go on infinitely - on belief being     justified by other that then need justification, or circle back upon itself     in some way - constituting a sort of basic belief system in no more need of     justification?25 Aug 2008 20:25 GMT57
A central concept in science and the scientific method is that all
evidence must be empirical, or empirically based, that is, dependent
on evidence or consequences that are observable by the senses.
Empirical data are data that are produced by experiment or
IBC tank - how safe25 Aug 2008 18:13 GMT1
This is my first post here. Recently I got used IBC tank (made from
plastic) from road construction site. In it was product for hydro
isolation of tunnels and roads Sikalastic 821. On the bottom of the
tank was maybe 10 to 15 liters of this product. I emptied it and

We recently designed an 8-channel complex waveform generator. Each
output stage is composed of a DAC, a lowpass filter, an output
amplifier, a test relay, and an output connector. It's this one:

Prices of 99.9999% ultra pure Aluminum24 Aug 2008 06:46 GMT16
Hello to you!
I would appreciate it if you could help me figure what are the Prices
of 99.9999% ultra pure trimethylaluminum;
if there are different prices for different grades, kindly advise too.

Meet Gordon, probably the world's first robot controlled exclusively

The difference between the probable and the fuzzy21 Aug 2008 13:31 GMT5
At this juncture it is important to point out the distinction between
fuzzy systems and probability. Both operate over the same numeric
range, and at first glance both have similar values: 0.0 representing
False (or non-membership), and 1.0 representing True (or membership).
Reductionism & Systems Theory: While the path of any particular     system may not be predictable, outcomes had a tendency to group...many quite     different systems actually share the same kinds of processes and there could     be a family resemblance...21 Aug 2008 07:16 GMT4
...Science had been founded on the belief that the proper route to
understanding a complex system, such as the movement of the heavens,
the mixing of chemicals, or the emergence of life, was to break it
down into a collection of parts linked by simple mathematical
settling aluminium hydroxide20 Aug 2008 14:00 GMT20
I am working on a project to recover a waste water stream for reuse in
a cooling tower.  The main problem with this particular water is the
presence of about 5 mg/L of aluminium ( from a polymerisation
catalyst).  I understand the solubility of aluminium and the need to
Hobbiest interested in learning the chem he didn't in college...     podcasts? audio-books?20 Aug 2008 07:18 GMT4
This is probably a tedious post for everyone, but I've Googled and
come up dry, so I'm asking here...
I've been doing software exclusively for the last 25 years or so. In
the last year I somehow re-acquired the interest I had as a tender
