I went hiking. Didn't feel any bites, but noticed some swelling on my
forehead as I came out of the woods. Last year my hand swelled up badly
after I got bitten by about three deerfly in the same spot. The swelling in
that case lasted about a week.

Ew!  One of my coworkers brought in a nice wool rug to help decorate
our sparse office.  A few days later, there was a "bug" on the wall in
a fuzzy navy colored casing about 1cm long, and he was climbing up the
wall sticking out it's head... or foot...

I keep seeing a very large wasp buzzing around outside my house. This
thing is about 2.5 times larger than a regular wasp - I would say it's
at least 2 inches long. It also sounds louder than an adult bumblebee.
Does anyone know what this is please?

My 7 year old grandson is very interested in the natural world. I
would like to make a moth trap for when he next visits, and have found

I caught a Luna moth flopping about on a tennis court two nights ago.  I
took it home, took some pictures, and let it  go.

Would any of you recognise the following beetle, and please excuse the
laymans description:
It was about 3+cm long by 2cm wide with medium brown wing cover. (It
was large enought to displace several spider webs which almost
