I am on the lookout for microbiology-weblogs. On my own site
baumhaus.blog.de I already collected some english and german weblogs
about that theme. Would you please help me to find some others.
I also wrote some accounts on (geo-)microbiology. You are dearly
protein purification under denaturing contitions28 Jul 2006 19:59 GMT1
Is is true that protein purification under denaturing contitions may be
done in room temperature? I'm puryfing my protein from inclusion bodies
using urea solutions and nickel-agarose column. In 4Cdeg urea in my
buffers starts to crystalize! If I perform lysis of the cell in room
troubles in P1 transduction28 Jul 2006 02:44 GMT1
I am using P1 transduction to introduce the gfp fusion gene  into the my
mutant strain, the mution site is far away from the gfp fusion gene. This was
done successfully for several times with the other strain in our lab 4 years
ago.  But I can't get it now. I assayed the titer of ...
E. coli, NO3-, and aerobic growth26 Jul 2006 20:51 GMT12
Hello--
I'm attempting to answer some other person's question about why E. coli
can't grow using NO3- as sole N source when conditions are aerobic.
Metabolism is not my field of expertise, and I wanted to make sure I
Lactate effect on gluconeogenesis / malate-aspartate shuttle25 Jul 2006 12:45 GMT6
The first stage in gluconeogenesis is the conversion of pyruvate into
phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP). In this stage, pyruvate is first converted
into oxolacetate in the mitochondrion by pyruvate carboxylase. Then,
two alternatives exist:
Modern online forum or bulletin board available?24 Jul 2006 18:10 GMT5
is there a forum or bulletin board regarding microbiology in mammal
intestines, esspecially human intestines?

Encoding everything in 50K genes?24 Jul 2006 16:34 GMT9
It is said that the entire human genome is contained in 50K to 100K
genes.  Given that each gene codes for only one protein/enzyme, that
seems quite impossible.  What's the key to this?
BTW, is there a more definite number for gene count these days?
Protein renaturation DTNB instead GSSG???20 Jul 2006 05:48 GMT2
Dear Collegues,
We are working on puryfing some proteins. Currently we need to make an
experiment in which denatured proteins possesing reduced -SH groups
have to be refolded. It is recommended to use dialysis with glutathione
Aging an Science vs astrology!19 Jul 2006 01:58 GMT2
i read one posting that linked aging to the month in which an
individual was born!
How scientific can that be? i thought aging was as a result of cells
reaching a stage where they are unable to further divide, thus dying out
Fruits of Stem Cell Research18 Jul 2006 09:35 GMT6
Why is the progress from stem cell research so slow? it has been a
sizable length of time since experiments resulted in the recovery of
paralyzed lab animals and still almost nothing has become available for
human benefit
Determining Time of Viral Damage to Organism17 Jul 2006 05:17 GMT1
If a virus does lasting damage to an organism that does not heal, is it
possible from some commonly employed technique on the damaged organism
to determine when the damage was done?
Can viruses move?16 Jul 2006 22:19 GMT12
I am aware that viruses require a host in order to reproduce. But are
they able to move on their own?
Thanks,
Radium
pET system expression15 Jul 2006 05:50 GMT3
I'm trying to express and purify my protein in pET system. We decided
to try it as in pTrc plasmids and DH5alpha cells purification yields
were low for our purposes. What was really strange for me that even I
transformed BL21 (DE3)  and LysS cells by sequenced in MCS region
How to select bacteria for their primary nutrition source?10 Jul 2006 04:10 GMT63
I think it is easily to select bacteria fom a mixture (sewage, soil...)
that can use a specific carbohydrate in addition to different ones by
makeing the specific carbohydrate the only one in the substrate the
bacteria are grown in.
Soy Medium for mold09 Jul 2006 23:40 GMT1
I am trying to make a "Soy Medium" (in broth form) for culturing
Aspergillus Flavus. I have soaked the soybeans overnight, and crushed
it well with distilled water and filtered it in cheesecloth. After
autoclaving the clarified liquid, there are big balls floated in the
