jumping from a bridge31 Oct 2004 21:33 GMT17
when I jump off a bridge into water, how deep will I dive?
Stoke's Theorem31 Oct 2004 21:31 GMT1
How can Stoke's Theorem be used describe a succsession 2 dimensional
surfaces, all causally connected? The surfaces would all be closed
geometric forms. An example would be the 2 dimensional surface of a 3
dimensional sphere. The the succsessive surfaces would be iterations
Infrared Fluorescence...31 Oct 2004 17:29 GMT11
Does any one know a material or materials that are will a will absorb
infrared radiation and re-emit a different wavelength?  Is this
possible in this band?
Thanks for any replies:)
The Limitations of Mathematics in Physics31 Oct 2004 16:40 GMT3
The Limitations of Mathematics in Physics
The present philosophy in theoretical physics is to search for
mathematical relationships that predict experimental results that are then used
to verify the validity of the mathematics in defining our physical Universe,
Do a spring gets warmer in use?31 Oct 2004 16:18 GMT9
Will a spring that is pushed and released repeatedly over a period of
time, produce some heat, that will raise the average surrounding
temperature?
Or will it just get warmer and colder all the time, without adding to
Dumping energy31 Oct 2004 16:10 GMT1
Just suppose -
I managed to cool a lump of polar slush into an iceberg  by converting
the molecular kinetic energy in the slush into electron movement round
a circuit.
superstable voltage or current generation31 Oct 2004 15:35 GMT4
Does anyone know of any equipment out there capable of generating a constant
voltage or constant current with an extreme time/temperature stability of about
10ppb (parts per bilion) or around? The power is not necessarily relevant.
If not, any ideas?
Heisenberg uncertainty principle meanings31 Oct 2004 15:32 GMT33
I want to know if Heisenberg uncertainty principle means that add an observor
can change the result? I know this is not an easy principle to understand.
But is it the basic ideas?

Music31 Oct 2004 15:27 GMT4
Have you ever notice when you play loud music on the stereo the windows or
tables shake only when certain tones are hit on the music? My bookshelf seems
to be very sensitive to a low D-flat, but even tones close to that don't
register to it. Similarly the table next to it vibrates ...
Q: properties of covariance matrices31 Oct 2004 15:13 GMT6
Let x and y be n-tuplets of normally distributed random variables, and let
  C = cov(x,y') be the nxn covariance matrix of x and y.
Let z be some fixed n-tuplet whose elements are all strictly positive.
1) Are all the elements of the n-vector, Cz, non-negative?
violation of microscopic reversibility31 Oct 2004 14:53 GMT1
If you want shitty teachers in science, spend $23,000 a year
to go to Widener University in Pennsylvania. So long as the professors
are Jews, the Administration loves them. The fact that they are
the worst teachers around doesn't seem to matter. The Administration
The Value of Winter Humidification31 Oct 2004 13:51 GMT10
The question of humidifying a house in wintertime comes down to this:
how much are you willing to pay not to have nosebleed.

Runaway greenhouse effect starts on Mother Earth31 Oct 2004 06:20 GMT42
Think positive .How can we use the heating of the planet to cut down on energy use?
How about insulated wide pipes taking heat energy from the tropiocs to the industrial areas?
